The majority of scalds happen in the
bath; therefore the Government have included requirements to regulate water
temperature. There has also been a recent introduction of a Water Efficiency
Target into Part G building regulations which is part of the Governments’ aim
to increase sustainability and reduce carbon emissions.
There are three approved documents
within Part G building regulations:
- G1 Sanitary Conveniences and
Washing Facilities
- G2 Bathrooms
- G3 Hot Water Storage
Part G also links to Part H building Regulations with regards to
rainwater drainage and quantity of water used in flushing of toilets.
Both heating and plumbing engineers are building professionals
that will be affected by the requirements set out in Part G building
regulations, and they must use building products that comply with these
regulations.
There are some building products
designed specifically to comply with Part G building regulations:
Thermostatic Valves and Thermostatic
Showers -
Thermostatic valves blend hot and
cold water to produce water of a safe temperature to prevent scalding. It is a
requirement in Part G to have thermostatic valves installed in new
dwellings.
Tap flow limiters control the amount
of water and can be fixed to taps on a bath or sink. They help to save water
which complies with the Water Efficiency Target included in Part G building
regulations, as well as saving money.
Offering businesses an ideal
platform to showcase building products and services that comply with Part G
Building Regulations
